England Squad Named for UEFA EURO 2024

Southgate Sets Sights on Trophy

Foden Misses Out Through Injury

Gareth Southgate has today named his final 25-man squad for England's upcoming UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying campaign. The Three Lions will kick off their bid to reach the finals in Germany with a clash against Ukraine on 26th March, before facing Italy three days later.

There are no major surprises in Southgate's squad, with the core of the team that reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup all included. However, there is one notable absentee in the form of Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden, who has been ruled out through injury.

Foden's absence is a blow to Southgate, but he will be boosted by the return of several key players. Captain Harry Kane is back in the squad after missing the friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast with a minor knock, while Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling are also included after recovering from injuries.

Southgate will be hoping that his team can build on their impressive performance at the World Cup and qualify for a major tournament finals for the third time in a row. England will be confident of their chances, having won their last five competitive matches.

The full squad is as follows:

  • Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope, Aaron Ramsdale
  • Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kieran Trippier, Luke Shaw, Ben Chilwell, Harry Maguire, John Stones, Eric Dier, Conor Coady
  • Midfielders: Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, Kalvin Phillips, Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, James Maddison
  • Forwards: Harry Kane (captain), Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden (injured), Marcus Rashford, Tammy Abraham
